Lessons on the Greek language, history and culture

The Lifelong Learning Center of the UNESCO Group of Piraeus and Islands and the International Organization of Culture and Arts International Action Art, announces the launch of a department of learning Greek Language, History and Culture.

The courses will start in September and are aimed at adults:

  • Foreigners who wish to prepare for the Examinations for the Acquisition of the Certificate of Knowledge Adequacy for Naturalization (PEGP), carried out by the General Secretariat for Citizenship of the Ministry of Interior

  • Foreigners who wish to learn Greek language and culture and receive the Certificate of Attainment in Greek, in order to study, work and remain in Greece

  • Stakeholders from the 60 member states - delegations of the international organization International Action ART

  • Greeks who wish to learn or get to know the Greek language, history and culture better

The teaching is based on the official Bank of Subjects of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the official syllabus of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs and concerns:

  • Reading and Speaking: alphabetical system, transportation, social life, work, social media, mass media, etc.

  • Geography: map of Greece

  • Political Institutions

  • History & Greek Culture: Ancient World, Eastern Roman Empire, Byzantine World, Hellenism in the Ottoman Empire, Greek Revolution, Modern Greek History 20th century, Post-colonial period, Greece member of Europe.

It is not a prerequisite for the learner to have knowledge of the Greek language.

The courses will be held at the educational center of the UNESCO Group of Piraeus and Islands in Nikaia or through an online platform.

Course leader: Mrs. Angeliki Pitsoli studied "Philology and Greek Culture", at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Open University of Cyprus, and gained the right to teach in public education of the Republic of Cyprus. At the same time, she graduated with honors from the "EIAS Diploma in Insurance Science and Operations" program of the Hellenic Institute of Insurance Studies and from the Postgraduate Program "Journalism and New Media", of the Department of Communication and Mass Media, of the School of Economics and Political Sciences, of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She speaks English and German.

She traveled to many countries of the world such as Austria, Germany, Cuba, America, Brazil, Argentina, Morocco, Thailand, Czech Republic, Spain, Russia, England, France, Italy and Cyprus. From 1998 until today she has been working in the private insurance sector and at the same time from 2014 until today in the fields of Communication and Culture and with professional articles in the press. She maintains her personal website www.apitsoli.gr and writes articles systematically in the WomanPower column.

From 2014 until today she collaborates with the UNESCO Group of Piraeus and Islands. She is the Director of Gender Equality and Scientific Advisor on Greek Culture issues.
